Ovation Ovation

Charlie Kaman used to build helicopters and airplane parts. Got quite rich doing it too. And oh by the way, he was a killer Jazz guitar player. In the late 60's he decided that he wanted to have a guitar that would be fully balanced no matter where you were playing. From the low E all the way to the last fret on the high E string, Charlie Kaman wanted a balanced and consistent tone from a guitar that played easily. And so he built the first Ovation. Today Ovation builds a range of guitars that are played by professionals all over the world. From Al Dimeola to Glen Campbell to Melissa Ethridge, Ovation has helped to shape there sound.

Ovation was created out of innovation and has never been a company to get stuck with one way of doing things. for 2007 they still build the Balladeer, the Legend, and the Adamas series of guitars, but the also have addressed the needs of the modern electric guitarist with the new VTX. By using the new Ovation VIP acoustic pre-amp and bridge pickups in combination with a solid body electric with traditional Seymour Duncan humbuckers, you have a do everything solid body with real acoustic tone and vibe. Developed in combination with Hamer, Ovation's sister company at Kaman, the VTX manages to seriously up the game for Hybrid acoustic/Electric players.

The big news isn't just about the VTX either. Ovation is making there contour body available on more and more models this year. Retaining the benefits of the Lyrachord body construction and sound reflecting properties of the traditional Ovation bowl, the contour back fits more comfortably against the body for those who found the traditional round back a little awkward.

That kind of innovation really highlights the Ovation guitar. Building a guitar that doesn't compromise performance for tradition for those players who won't compromise there music either.
